The 2017/2018 PARENTING CLASSES will start again after the new school year begins. Schools need an activity of this type for several reasons. Parents often think that they’ve been taught everything but how to be parents. Parenthood brings countless surprises: not only do we become mothers and fathers, but we also have to educate them! So what to do now? Learn ourselves.
No one is born an educator; you have to learn to educate. Parents learn on the fly, solving problems or unexpected situations as they occur. But reflecting on one’s own experience and that of others is crucial in order to be more effective as educators of our children. It is good for us to share and enrich ourselves with the ideas and experiences of others. Parenting Classes provide this possibility. The initiative also encourages a greater sense of involvement in the school.
In short, it is an exercise of responsibility. Education for our children is a right; but for us, as parents, it’s a must. We shouldn’t confuse instruction, the weight of which lies primarily with teachers, with education, which falls almost entirely on parents. The values we live by will be those that we pass on to our children, and one of the goals of the Parenting Classes is precisely to provoke that crucial attitude of becoming better people.
The classes aim to inform, provide advice, and educate parents about their important role, which affects the development of their children’s personalities and as individuals, improving their academic performance and increasing motivation to live a healthier life. To that end, we will address topics that include educational styles, rules and limits, the importance of communication, and emotional intelligence.
It is designed for parents with children in kindergarten to the 6th grade and attendance is free. We know that it requires an effort on your part and that we all live busy lives, but we believe it’s worth it. The sessions will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the following days:
25 October, 22 November, 24 January, 21 February, 18 April, 16 May and 6 June.
However, parents who enroll will receive notification of their class date a week in advance. If you are interested in attending, please complete the registration form and send to the following e-mail:
You can also have your child hand in the form to his/her tutor.
We hope to see you there!
